• Small basaloid cells
• Cribriform, rosettes, tubular clusters
• Basaloid cells with metachromatic hyaline material
• Small round to oval cells
• Round and uniform nuclei
• Small nucleoli
• Moderate amount of pale cytoplasm
• May have nuclear grooves and inclusions
• May have intracytoplasmic mucin vacuoles
• Usually spindled
• May be epithelioid/ plasmacytoid
• Typically singly dispersed
• Elongated nuclei
• Delicate ill-defined cytoplasm
• Typically embedded in stroma
• Fibrillary with feathery outlines
• Is best seen on DQ stain as it appears magenta in color
• May have metaplasia: squamous, oncocytic, mucinous
• May have calcifications, crystals
• Express cytokeratin, vimentin, GFAP, may express CEA, actin, calponin, S100
• May have rearrangement of 8q12 or 12q13.15
