Low power: DQ stain
Fragment of tumor with metachromatic myxoid stroma with fibrillary edges, capillary size vessels and two cell population. One population is of univacuolated lipoblasts and a second population of round cells with scant to no cytoplasm
Medium power: Pap stain
Pale pink myxoid stroma with scattered univacuolate and multivacuolated lipoblasts. The round cell component is characterized by cells with irregular nuclei and small nucleoli
Medium power: Pap stain
Fragment of tumor with predominance of round cell component. Round cell component is usually present at the edges of the myxoid liposarcoma; however, if it is present with the tumor and is more than 5% of tumor cellularity, it confers higher grade to the tumor
Cell block: H&E Stain
Scattered lipoblasts in a pale pink matrix. The recommended cytologic diagnosis is Myxoid neoplasm - favor myxoid liposarcoma, NOS

• Lipoblasts and branching caoillaries in myxoid matrix
• Chicken wire vascular pattern
• Lipoblasts in varying stages of maturation
• Signet ring-like to multivacuolated cells
• Cells cluster around capillaries
• Bland monomorphous spindle/stellate cells
• Prominent metachromatic myxoid matrix
• Mitosis rare
• IHC: positive for S100
• Translocation t(12;16) or t(12;22)
